Lifecycle and Product Policy
Long term availability and increased reliability are
what
sets industrial and embedded PC's apart from commercial PCs.
Commercial PCs have an average production lifecycle
of less than 12 month. That is for most OEM customers who embedded
computers in their applications about as long as it takes to get
their prototypes running and certified. By the time they go to mass
production a designed-in commercial PC would already have been phased
out.
For OEMs the increasingly shorter cycle in computer
board innovations and therefore ever, shorter production lifecycle
is a nightmare. Arbor realizes that a long product availability
and extended reliability are what truly qualifies it as an industrial
supplier and reliable business partner for OEM customers.
A product's production lifecycle
Arbor aims to extend its production period of its embedded range
from 3 to 5 years. To achieve this we design-in long life warranties
by selecting only major components for our embedded designs that
come with a guaranteed long term availability. During a product's
lifetime, minor product modifications may be applied to improve
a product's reliability and/or substitute discontinued standard
components for same or higher quality ones. In cases like Arbor
will automatically inform affected OEM partners at least 60 days
prior to applying the changes.
Notification of product discontinuation
Arbor's provides a 6 months in advance notification to affected
OEM partners before discontinuing products in our embedded range.
During this 6 months period, product orders will be normally accepted.
In situations where key components phase out, in a pace beyond our
control, Arbor is committed to work with its partners to find a
solution that can satisfy their needs.
